Βρήκαμε τον κ. Legato κοντά στην κάμερα μίας νέας παραγωγής και μας είπε: “Οι εγκαταστάσεις μου, βασικά, αποτελούν μία ανοικτή αρχιτεκτονική για οποιουδήποτε τύπου μονάδα: Final Cut®, Avid®, Premiere®, After Effects®. Είναι ανάγκη να έχω πρόσβαση σε όλα αυτά επειδή επικοινωνώ με ανθρώπους που χρησιμοποιούν όλα αυτά τα διαφορετικά προϊόντα. Ο Robert Legato έχει προταθεί για βραβείο της Ακαδημίας 2012 στην κατηγορία των Οπτικών Effects, για τις υπηρεσίες που προσέφερε στην ταινία Hugo. Αυτή είναι η Τρίτη του υποψηφιότητα για βραβείο της Ακαδημίας. Το 1997 κέρδισε το βραβείο οπτικών effects για τον Τιτανικό και το 1995 ήταν υποψήφιος για την ταινία Apollo 13.
Στην καριέρα του διαθέτει μία μακρά λίστα από συμμετοχές, ως προς τα Video Effects, αλλά και ως Second Unit Director, σε σπουδαίες ταινίες όπως Shutter Island, Avatar, The Departed, The Aviator και πολλές άλλες.

 Caught on camera during production, Mr. Legato had this to say: “My facility, basically, is an open architecture for every type of device– Final Cut®, Avid®, Premiere®, After Effects®, and all these different types of things. I need to be able to have access to all of them because I’m communicating with people who use all these various products. The MXO2, when it’s coupled with Premiere, it actually can play just about any medium… so it becomes a huge asset in my editing room…I use the H.264 capability to speed up whatever it is I’m trying to do… I can a get file out in seconds where it used to take me sometimes hours to do it … and that is a huge bonus.”

Robert Legato  has been nominated for the 2012 Academy Awards in the Visual Effects category for his latest work on the movie Hugo. This is his third Academy Award nomination. In 1997 he won the visual effects award for Titanic and in 1995 he was nominated for Apollo 13. He has a long list of Video Effects and Second Unit Director credits to his name including, Shutter Island, Avatar, The Departed, The Aviator, and many more.
