From Harris Broadcast to Imagine Communications

Από τη Harris Broadcast στην Imagine Communications!

You might not know that after splitting from Harris in 2012, Harris Broadcast had the ability to use the name ‘Harris’ only for a few years and then needed to change to another.
After the split, Harris Broadcast was a strong independent company focused exclusively on the broadcast market and its future.
The Gores group allowed the company to continue its very large R&D programs some of which have materialized into industry firsts since then, and give us a view of the future.
The Gores group also assisted Harris Broadcast to optimize the production process and supply chain of its broad broadcast product range.
In 2014, Harris Broadcast acquired a company called Imagine Communications and liking the name decided to use this as their new name, one year ahead of the deadline from Harris.
The name of the company was Imagine Communications.
It seemed convenient at the time. Since then it appears that it added to the confusion involving the name. It has mixed-up some people who do not follow the goings on in the broadcast arena on a daily basis and who wrongly assumed the acquisition was reverse.
Another mistaken assumption is that Imagine Communications (ex-Harris Broadcast) develops only advanced solutions for broadcasters (Cloud, SDN, Business Automation etc).
This is not true.
Imagine Communications is still very active on all levels of broadcast operations and in all areas except cameras and monitors. The assumption is explained by the fact that on a marketing level there has been a bias towards the advanced solutions.
In the next days we will see announcements which prove the truth of these words. From Harris to Imagine …
